  • Principal Dr. Stanley CHUNG

    EdD (Ed. Psy), PsyD (Clin, Psy), MSSc, MEd, PGDE, PGDCS, BEng, CPsychol (BPS), AFBPsS, ACounS, CCoun, RSW, AFHKPCA.

Principal Dr. CHUNG joined St. Francis Xavier's School, Tsuen Wan in 2023. He has previously served as the Principal of Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School, Principal of Carmel Holy Word Secondary School, as well as the Vice Principal of Lai Chack Middle School. He has held various positions in different schools, including Director of Student Development, Panel Head of Mathematics Department, Guidance Master, and Extra Curricular Activities Master, accumulating over twenty years of experience in education. Throughout his career, he has consistently upheld the values of passing on knowledge and nurturing growth. In 2020, he was awarded the "6th Global Outstanding Young Leader" by Yazhou Zhoukan.

 

Principal Chung graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, majoring in Environmental Engineering. He later obtained a Doctorate in Education (Educational Psychology) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Doctorate in Psychology (Clinical Psychology) from the California Southern University, a Master's in Social Science (Social Work) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master's in Education from the University of Western Australia, a Postgraduate Diploma in Christian Studies from the Alliance Bible Seminary, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Mathematics Education) from the Hong Kong Baptist University. He is a chartered psychologist in the UK, a registered social worker in Hong Kong, a certified counsellor, and an accredited counselling supervisor. Additionally, he is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, an Associate Fellow of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, and a member of the American Psychological Association. Principal Chung is a diligent and lifelong learner. To more effectively promote mental health education in schools, he is actively pursuing a Master's degree in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy at the University of Oxford and plans to promote mindfulness education in the future to enhance students' psychological well-being and learning capabilities.

 

For many years, Principal Chung has been passionate about student counselling and actively promotes mental health education in both academic and social contexts. He frequently writes articles on various social issues and participates in media interviews. He served as a clinical supervisor for the Master's program in Counselling at the University of Hong Kong, an guest speaker for the Master's program in Counselling at the Education University of Hong Kong, a lecturer for the student discipline and counseling Certificate Course for teachers, and a course developer for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education program at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

 

Principal Chung is also actively involved in community service. He serves as the Liaison Officer II (Grade V) for the Hong Kong SAR Government Auxiliary Medical Services, Vice Chairman of the Lantau District Committee of the Scout Association of Hong Kong, a member of the Tsuen Wan District Committee, the Group Leader of the 22nd Tsuen Wan Scout Group, a member of the Youth Services Development Committee of the Friends of Scouting, Honorary President of the Islands District of the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association, Deputy Chairman of the Student Affairs Committee of the Hong Kong CPPCC Youth Federation (21/23), a director of the Hong Kong Chongqing Association, a consultant to the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education at the Education University of Hong Kong, an honorary advisor to the Hong Kong Society of Counseling and Psychology, a consultant to the Hong Kong Detective Association, and an honorary advisor to the 12th Council of the Tsuen Wan District Parent-Teacher Association Federation.
